SHAD Canada is a STEAM program for exceptional high school students, where they spend a month living in residence at a Canadian University, meeting like-minded students, attending innovative lectures and hands-on workshops, and conducting a design challenge based on real world issues. As a program assistant at SHAD Carleton in July 2019, I lived in residence with the cohort of 59 high school students from all over the country for the month. Over the course of the month, I supervised these students, planned and facilitated workshops and activities and acted as a role model for them.
