  My research investigated key cultural barriers to paternal leave taking amongst Australian fathers with infants. Specifically, my research examined how the Australian government's Dad and Partner Pay policy was framed in the news media around the time of its introduction in 2013, and investigated employers' and fathers' experiences of the scheme, based on over 100 qualitative interviews.

  I facilitated a third year research-based Social Science course. The course required students to work in groups to conduct hands-on social research (both qualitative and quantitative) for an industry partner over two semesters. Student research teams were involved in all stages of the research process, from formulating research questions and securing ethical clearance, to data collection and the dissemination of findings.   Relationships Australia (RA) lead a national study on Family Dispute Resolution outcomes for clients of the service. The qualitative component of the study involved 87 interviews with separating parents who had participated in Family Dispute Resolution about their experiences of the process, and any difficulties they encountered in reaching a parenting agreement. Responsibilities of the role included: - Contacting potential participants to explain the purpose of the research, answer any questions, and confirm interest in the study; - Organising and completing 87 semi-structured telephone interviews with Relationships Australia mediation clients; - Reporting to the RAQ Manager of Research on progress of the data collection and general project communications; - Data analysis and dissemination, involving the use of Nvivo and Microsoft Excel software to code demographic and unstructured interview data; - Writing research reports, literature reviews, and preparing journal articles for publication; - Disseminating key research findings in the form of a conference paper; - General project administration duties, as required.
