Myself and three of my peers were selected as winners of the International Policy Ideas Challenge in August 2020. Over the course of six months, we developed a policy brief on Canada's role in outer space, with a focus on the environmental impacts of outer space exploration. My group and I worked closely with a Global Affairs mentor and consulted various stakeholders in the field to develop concrete solutions for Canadian space policy issues. Collaborated with a group of my Balsillie School peers and faculty, as well as the Foreign Policy Research and Foresight Division within Global Affairs Canada to present concrete and applicable solutions to future policy issues. Over the course of ten months, I developed a policy framework focusing on the governance of outer space in connection with mineral resource extraction, in order to improve current discourse on the topic.
