    • Executive Director
      • Aug 2011 - Present

My current position as the Executive Director of Victim Services of Peterborough and Northumberland has helped me develop a strong understanding of policy development and the decision-making process and a good comprehension of self-government, economic development and resource management issues specific to Victim Services. I manage three staff members and 44 Volunteer Crisis Responders, effectively overseeing and monitoring the delivery of three programs and supporting the enhancement of social justice through providing direct assistance to victims of crime or tragedy, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is accomplished by ensuring adherence to applicable legislation, regulation, policies and procedures in accordance with ministerial and agency guidelines. I have also been successful at re-branding the agency, changing our corporate name and logo and, together with my front-line staff, increasing the total number of clients served by the agency in the last fiscal year due to changes to our operating procedures.

    • Caseworker
      • Feb 2010 - Aug 2011

As a Caseworker with the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Ministry of Community and Social Services, I regularly dealt with complex client issues in a fast-paced environment while upholding OPS customer service standards. I determined ongoing eligibility for support and benefits and maintained case files of 280+ customers according to applicable Ministry legislation, guidelines/policies to ensure program integrity and fiscal responsibility. I have demonstrated my ability to learn and apply government legislation and I place a high value on personal integrity and represented both myself and the OPS in an ethical and respectable manner. I consistently used good judgement in handling complex issues and utilized my proven skills in stakeholder relationship management, conflict resolution, analytical/problem solving, and effective communication (verbal and written).

    • Program Coordinator
      • Oct 2007 - Feb 2010

In my work as the Program Coordinator of Victim Services of Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry & Akwesasne I managed the activities and crisis response of 50+ volunteers, which included the development and management of monthly schedules for crisis response ensuring coverage 24/7. I was involved in the implementation of a number of successful change management initiatives that supported effective program delivery, examples being the transition to a rotating team model for crisis response and the development of a “Break & Enter” project in conjunction with local OPP. I have experience in successful fundraising including organizing an annual dinner and comedy night in support of the program; and writing grant proposals for the National Victims of Crime Awareness Week. I provided victims of crime and tragic circumstance emotional support, practical assistance, and referrals to agencies in the community that could meet their specific needs. As the point of contact for victims who called in for assistance, I was responsible for providing follow-up calls, with consent, after an on-scene request with our volunteers. As a member of the Domestic Violence Court Advisory Committee, I was able to develop my needs assessment skills while helping to find ways to advocate for clients and to develop resources in the community that could be of assistance, recommending solutions to contentious issues.
