Our ISR journey began 5 years ago when our son was 6 months old. A coworker sent me a video of a little baby falling into the water in his jammies and then rolling over into a back float. I thought it had to be too good to be true. No way can you teach a 6 month old, who has just learned to sit up on his own, to get themselves up to the top of the water, turn themselves over and get to a back float!! I started to do some research into these survival swim lessons. After lots of research I was still very skeptical, but I decided to send my son through the lessons. Unfortunately Miss Emily was not an instructor at this time so I had to send my son down to live with my parents in Indianapolis while he took lessons. When I went down to watch lessons at the end of the 1st week I was in awe. I was no longer a skeptic but full supporter! By the time my son was ready for the swim-float-swim lessons Miss Emily had become certified. She was only teaching down in Decatur, so we made the 45 minute drive each way for 4 weeks. It was well worth the time commitment! He was able to swim to get himself to the side of the pool at 2 and a half years old... beyond my wildest expectations! Our daughter started her lessons with Miss Emily a few days after she turned 6 months. She was Miss Emily's youngest student. Thankfully Miss Emily was now teaching lessons in Fort Wayne so it made it much easier. I had not been able to witness most of my son's initial lessons so watching Briscoe progress and be able to float for 5 seconds on her own after just a few days of lessons brought tears to my eyes. Our daughter did the swim-float-swim lessons about 6 months later. It is amazing what these kids can do at such a young age. With as much time as we spend around the water these lessons are a no brainer for us. Both kids have gone back for about a week of refresher lessons once a year. Thanks to Miss Emily we now have 2 very confident, strong water bugs!

Emily came to my pool to work with some of my students. She is an amazing Instructor and I was honored to hand over my students to her.
