  I lead teams of 16-17 year olds in both indoor and outdoor activities; supervised breaks, meals and free-times and created professional rapports with the participating young people. I had to deliver activities such as ‘Mastering Life Skills’ and assist in sessions lead by external facilitators by maintaining engagement and providing any extra support necessary. I had to act as a role model to encourage positive behaviour and address any challenging behaviour in a manner which was both effective and measured. My responsibilities also included working an overnight shift at least once a week to ensure all young people had been registered for bed and to be available in case of any issues or emergencies during the night.   After having liaised with BBC Politics North correspondent, Luke Walton, I spent 2 days shadowing him on a piece surrounding the struggles of university students during a cost of living crisis. The first day of shadowing involved conducting interviews with students and Students Union Representatives at the University of Sunderland. On the second day, I observed how the interviews we filmed were edited together to make a short piece to be broadcast on the same day. I help set up the studio to prepare for the Politics North show and subsequently watched it being broadcast live from the gallery. Show less
