This was a very casual job, working when there were events on at the racecourse. My role here was mainly as bar staff, however, throughout my time there I undertook numerous roles such as food staff and also more senior roles such as working in the private boxes and carrying out multiple roles during the same shift due to my amount of experience. The skills I learnt at utilised whilst working at the racecourse include; the use of customer service skills in order to provide the customer experience expected at Chester Racecourse, Handling money and using the till, Working behind a bar, serving the customers and also working within a team to help colleagues, Adhering to legal and health and safety regulations by serving the correct alcohol measurements and combating underage drinking through the Challenge 25 policy and also keeping the workplace clean and hygienic at all times. The most important skill I improved whilst working behind a bar was working under intense pressure for long periods of time due to the demand from large numbers of customers whilst working in a small team.
