The Design for Health and Wellbeing Lab is a collaboration between Auckland District Health Board and Auckland University of Technology. Situated within a lively, experimental space at New Zealand's largest medical facility, the Design for Health and Wellbeing Lab (DWH) Lab combines a range of technical, academic, and professional expertise to deliver innovative design-led solutions to real healthcare issues. The Lab has a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team whose aim is to develop better healthcare experiences for hospital users. Working on a project-by-project basis in the areas of graphic, product, and service design, the DHW Lab is characterised by its empathetic, user-centered approach to solving complex hospital-based design problems. The Lab is a working knowledge hub that encourages staff, patients, families and their hospital users to ask questions, share insights, challenge assumption, and contribute to meaningful design outcomes. http://dhwlab.com Show less

Research Officer - The Family 100 Project
-
Apr 2013 - Nov 2014
This fixed term role involved responsibility for the day-to-day management of The Family 100 Research Project. I led analytical work for the Mission and communicated Project findings from this innovative Auckland based study via reports, speaking engagements, press releases and articles. Family 100 followed 100 families living in severe hardship over the course of a year. The study was led by the Auckland City Mission in collaboration with researchers from Waikato University, Massey University and the University of Auckland, alongside Mission staff, in order to better understand what stops people moving out of poverty. The aim was to use project findings in order challenge the pervasive rhetoric regarding families living in hardship and to advocate for services that better meet their needs.
