I create programming at a systems level, teach as a classroom instructor, and work one-on-one with students to help them develop their skills in writing, engaging with course material, time management, and goal setting. I've created a friendly and open space where student can get support, collaborate, and build relationships. I mentor future teachers through our graduate assistant program. My work in accessibility and disability services helps ensure all students have equal access to their education and the campus experience. I coordinate holistic care & support for students so they can be well and do well while at HC and after they graduate. Show less

Prompt Queens is a weekly songwriting podcast where every week we get a new prompt, write a song to that prompt, play the song for each other and the audience for the first time on air, and then discuss songwriting and the creative process. I co-host and co-produce and DIY everything with Hope Dunbar. To build community through music, I started Bar Choir: a "pick-up" choir at First Street Brewing. Every month I'd arrange a pop song with three vocal parts, put together a small band, and then teach the song to the choir. If you're not in elementary school or go to church, when else do you get the opportunity to sing with your friends and neighbors? Bar Choir was a no commitment, no experience necessary, chance to participate in making music. It was a blast. Perhaps we can do it again post-pandemic. Show less

I packaged a lot of organic soap and sent it out to individuals and businesses. I smelled awesome and helped an amazing start up get off the ground. I packaged a lot of organic soap and sent it out to individuals and businesses. I smelled awesome and helped an amazing start up get off the ground.

At Hastings High I taught literature and writing to all kinds of students. I taught classes for below-grade-level readers as well as dual credit senior honors courses. It was a joy to collaborate with other teachers both in the classroom and in planning sessions to create classroom communities and dynamic lessons that engaged all students.
