Bio
Tim Mann MBE
I first met Emily when she contacted the Met Police to link up with Volunteer Police Cadets and reach a wider teenage audience. My units in south London had a diverse range of young people from many backgrounds and I thought it was a great opportunity for our young people. From a very personable phone call to positive email exchanges, I invited Emily and team to come to our cadet nights. To be honest, usually a Head or senior lead of a team don't alwalys necessarily do the "boots on the ground" work direct with the young people. But Emily was totally different! She and a colleague came down and absolutely nailed it with our young people, talking about safety, street awareness, healthy relationships, Childline and much more. That would be the first of several visits which were all positive, pitched at just the right level, mattered to our young people and made a difference. Best of all - some of our young people came rom troubled backgrounds, and weren't always the best at sitting through presentations or sessions. Well, Emily knows her stuff, spoke passionately with complete credibility and knew exactly how to "work the room", read teenage faces and run a really switched-on session that hit home! From these sessions, Emily came to us with some great opportunities, such as our young people giving their thoughts and feedback in focus groups looking at campaign materials and suggested resources, giving them a real voice that I know our kids felt was heard and mattered. We also were proud to take young people to events Emily organised and facilitated such as Home Office knife and gang crime workshops with Ministers, senior politicians and other young people from around the UK and many different backgrounds. Emily is a passionate campaigner with clear and transparent integrity, motivation and values, which shine out in all she does. We've seen her in TV interiews speaking from the heart and being at centre of major events. I have also seen her inspiring and making a difference in exactly the same way to a bunch of teenagers in a school hall late on a Monday night! That's a talent and a skill I admire and we really appreciated! Thmily for all you did for us and the young people you so positively influenced and motivated. Good luck with everything you're up to now!
