FotoFest’s programs work globally and locally, bringing together an international vision of art and cross-cultural exchange with a commitment to community involvement and the enrichment of Houston's cultural resources.FotoFest created the first international Biennial of Photography and Photo-related Art in the United States. In addition to its internationally known Biennial, FotoFest sponsors Inter-Biennial programs - exhibitions, international exchange programs, and publications. FotoFest operates a year-round classroom education program, Literacy Through Photography, using photography to strengthen writing skills, visual literacy, and cognitive learning.

The Idea Fund is a regional granting administered by a partnership between DiverseWorks, Aurora Picture Show and Project Row Houses and funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The Idea Fund supports individual artists, curators, collectives, collaboratives or partnerships in the greater Houston area. Grant recipients receive funding for projects that exemplify unconventional, participatory or social practice, conceptual, innovative or entrepreneurial, or activist artistic practices. Grants are competitive and awarded by a panel consisting of arts professionals from around the country and a past Idea Fund grant recipient.
