Bio
Jacob Boyer
I recently had the opportunity to work with Emilie Lenglain on an ad hoc team to provide photographic coverage of an Army Reserve event with a national audience. I led her and a team of multimedia illustrators, none of whom had any formal training in photography or with the cameras they were using. Emilie immediately distinguished herself as ready to learn and adapt to make sure she was capturing images that would captivate audiences and encourage them to follow the command's activities. Emilie is a natural leader who took charge of both soldiers she knew and those she didn't. Despite having no training in the style and processes of Army photojournalism, within 24 hours she was shooting and processing images that were picked up by both the U.S. Army Reserve Command and external media outlets. She worked tirelessly through days that lasted more than 12 hours, displaying enthusiasm for the mission and going out of her way to motivate other soldiers who were struggling with new skill sets. Her images have quickly risen to the top of the 352nd Civil Affairs Command's Flickr photostream in number of web hits, and one of them won first place for the month of April in an internal Army Reserve public affairs photo competition. I would gladly accept Emilie onto any team I was working with or leading, and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to hire a young, enthusiastic, ready-to-learn graphic artist or photographer. Her discipline, leadership and motivation are unparallelled, and she is a young leader who anyone would be glad to work with.

Emilie was — of all the Gallery Attendants I had to hire and supervise during the existence of this branch of a French Art Gallery in New York, between 2007 and 2010 — my last recruit, and I would say the best! The most reliable, personable, and effective, among perhaps 7 or 8 persons (approximately), who held this position. I was quite happy and satisfied to work with her. My only regret about this period had nothing to do with her or her skills, which are undeniable, but with the clients in France, who were running the gallery and as such, hiring my own services — as a bilingual native New Yorker. I do recommend Emilie. She was a bright and competent co-worker. Best of luck for her current and future career!
