In’Oya laboratory is a French start-up cosmetic biotech company with 6 employees. It is specialized in a small market segment: dark skin. The laboratory studied the specificity of dark skins for 3 years to design fitted cosmetics. Its first product was launched on the market in June 2013, available only in pharmacies. It is a cream that can erase dark spots on the face and on the body. Indeed, brown skins often experience the apparition of darker spots on a scar or after acne, burns, or even hair removals. This cream is efficient after 28 days of use every night. My job consisted in: • Liaising with targeted customers: → street marketing, → publication of news or articles on social network and on the company’s website, → organizing commercial actions: free skin diagnostics performed on potential customers in distributor’s place, • Analyzing of distribution strategies with the development of a distributor’s data base; • Monitoring of distributor’s sales and needs. Research Assistant (Intern)

My job concerned the research of new anti-tumor drugs in venoms. Indeed, venoms contain a lot of toxins that are made from different peptides. Some of these peptides have angiogenesis inhibitor activity, which can be turned into anti-tumor drugs. The aim of the project was: • Screening of different venoms to find those that have a potential angiogenesis inhibitor activity; • Fractionning of interesting venoms through HPLC methods; • Concentration of molecules by lyophilisation of the fraction; • Tests of anti-angiogenic molecules on human endothelial cells: → Proliferation assay: venoms were first screened for their ability to hinder cell growth; → Purified peptides were then be checked for their effect on in vitro tubulogenesis on MatrigelTM; → Time-lapse videomicroscopy: fractions were tested for their inhibition ability of cell migration and for their influence on different parameters (velocity persistence, direction); • Determination of active peptides molecular weight performed by mass spectrometry MALDI-TOF.
