Ms. Contreras is one of the most knowledgable, resourceful, and productive colleagues I have had the pleasure of working with. She brings positivity and drive that often set the tone for the team. With a work ethic beyond reproach, Emilia is an asset to any endeavor.

As Career Services Coordinator at High Desert Medical College, it is our main responsibility to assist our graduated and current students with their placement needs. In our department we assure our students are interview ready by assisting with resume building and mock interviews. Most of our day is spent networking with potential employers for our many programs. We send out our graduates resumes by fax or email and assist in scheduling interviews. We provide options for our grads to come to campus and keep up with their skills while they are waiting for the opportunity for hire. During this time, we stay up to date on all job postings and send leads to our graduates to apply online and in person. Our current students look to us when they need a part-time job in order to provide for their families while they attend school. Most of our students struggle as single mothers, we provide them with options for child care, low income housing, and transportation. We work with all our departments and do everything in our power to assure they preserver and succeed. Our motto is "students first", they are our main priority. We want them to know they are valued above all else. If they do not succeed then we will not succeed.
