In the development of efficient and competitive adsorption energy technology, understanding, selecting and optimizing the adsorbent materials is of pivotal importance. I characterized the material's equilibrium and kinetics properties most relevant to the target thermodynamic processes by experiments, models and simulations. The characterization, combined with dedicated selection algorithms, allows the screening of adsorbent materials among a wide library of candidates. The analysis of the combined heat and mass transfer in the adsorbent materials allows their tailoring and optimal use for the target applications, including heat pumping, thermochemical energy storage, and carbon dioxide separation from combustion flue gases.

I was working as Research Fellow at the Energy Department of the Politecnico di Milano. My duties included research activities, writing scientific papers and research projects proposals concerning Building Integrated Photovoltaics. The research dealed with the optical characterization of innovative shading systems integrating PV as well as with the evaluation of the electrical performance of the PV modules under partial shading. Dynamic models and experiments were carried out to estimate the impact of the shading devices, with their respective design & control strategies, on the global energy efficiency of the buildings (HVAC energy consumption, daylighting, renewable energy production).

I worked as engineer assistant for SERTEC S.R.L., an engineering consulting society in Loranzè, Italy. My role included basic design of thermal, electric, hydraulic and anti-fire plants; I was asked to dimension and structure the plants, choose components, verify the compliance with regulations requirements. In the case of a new commercial structure I had to draw up the technical report for the authority. I also worked with firemen to verify the evacuation plans and the regulation requirements of security installations. All in coordination with my supervisors.
