I worked with Dr Laura Rogers and Amy Bonsor on an observational study of polluted white dwarfs in wide binaries. In the first weeks, I planned the observations of targets for the MIKE spectrometer on the Clay Magellan Telescope at Las Champanas, Chile (selection of priority targets, exposure times, timeline, catalogue, and finding charts). After successful observations in July, I worked with reduced data to identify pollution (metal lines) in the spectra of white dwarfs in wide binaries (fitting absorption profiles, finding EW and upper limit EW and corresponding abundances). The results were then compared with the control sample of single white dwarfs. At the end of my internship, I presented my results via a poster at the UK Exoplanet conference (UKEXOM2023). Show less

I received a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship via RISE Germany programme to work at the Institute of Material Physics in Space. I worked in a granular group under supervision of Dr Lisa Dossow and Dr Philiph Born with Anton Paar’s MCR rheometer and in the optic lab performing the dynamic light scattering of a single granular particle in order to determine the granular temperature.
