In this role, I wear several hats, all of which ensure the success and organization of the Village's Finance Department. The responsibilities I manage day-to-day include processing invoices and payments from constituents, receiving and reconciling paperwork from various other departments, and correctly coding each receipt into our internal systems. In addition, I always provide excellent service and assistance to constituents, local business owners, and my fellow colleagues. One of my favorite parts of this role are the times I get to learn something new about governmental finance and expand my skills in accounting. I work with our CFO, Deputy CFO, and other leaders in the Finance Department to manage our books and ensure they balance against our bank deposits. I really enjoy the attention to detail and brain power it takes to keep the department organized and our customers taken care of. Show less

    • Personal Banker - Treasury Management Service Advisor
      • Jan 2020 - Jul 2021

When I started with Huntington, I was brought on as a Temp Teller. I admittedly had very few skills in the worlds of finance and banking, but my natural knack for numbers allowed me to catch on quickly, and within a month I was promoted to Personal Banker. In that role, I owned the Service to Sales process. That means that I always looked out for my customers and made sure they had the tools, knowledge, and support to reach their financial goals. My ability to create a welcoming environment, and my genuine care for each of my customers, allowed me to excel further than my peers. I took a special interest in Treasury Management, because during the Covid-19 pandemic I saw a lot of our small business owners struggle. I sought out mentors and extra education in Huntington's TM Services, and that knowledge allowed me to better serve our business customers. It was so rewarding to apply my expertise and support our customers behind the scenes. Additionally, I was fortunate to be able to pursue my passion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and collaborate with leaders within Huntington to make a positive impact in that area. For example, I worked closely with another banker to evaluate and improve our Workday employee self-identification labels to be more inclusive. I also campaigned for a preferred name or nickname ability in our customer accounts database. Both of those projects were successful and implemented company-wide shortly after my time at Huntington ended. I was so honored to hear from my colleagues that my hard work had paid off, and I love that my legacy is so intertwined with something as important as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Show less

    • Communications Coordinator - Teacher
      • Aug 2018 - Jul 2019

At Delaney Wright Fine Arts Preschool, my time was split between managing the school's communications and classroom time. I revived and revamped the school’s social media pages and engaged with parents by posting regularly, using dynamic captions, and by replying to comments in a timely manner. Monthly, I received input from the director and my fellow teachers and compiled necessary information and updates into newsletters sent via email to our families. I flexed and honed creativity and autonomy while planning, executing, and presenting several large, school-wide projects aimed at engaging students, faculty, families, and the community at large. While in the classroom, I had the privilege of collaborating with my co-teachers in order to manage the emotional and physical well-being of our students, while also developing and carrying out various lesson plans aimed at stimulating the children's creativity and improving their social and educational skills. Although these were new professional skills I had to develop, I found that relying on my fellow teachers and hands-on learning led to my success and enjoyment of this aspect of my role. Show less

      • Jan 2017 - May 2018

As the Sustainability Coordinator, I planned and orchestrated events and activities to engage the campus and larger community in Sustainability Education. Some of my responsibilities included: maintaining the project calendar, calculating and keeping the budget, authoring project and grant proposals, consulting with stakeholders, and ensuring success and preparedness on the day of the event. I secured partnerships with various faculty, staff, departments, and community members, and improved quality of events and projects by seeking feedback from participants and using this qualitative data in future project planning and brainstorming sessions. During the times between big projects, I had several other responsibilities. I served as the student representative on the Sustainability Committee, which was a collection of faculty, staff, and community members who were working on incorporating different aspects of sustainability to our campus operations. I evaluated sustainability efforts, policies, and practices on campus by mobilizing interested and eager students and collecting data on energy usage, recycling metrics, campus programs, and curriculum connected to sustainability. Though this position was only part-time, it was challenging and exciting to spend my work and educational life focused on one of my main core values: Sustainability! Show less
