Jun 2023 - Present
In June 2023 after graduating with my Master in Public Administration, I accepted the position of Deputy Town Manager of Somerset, Maryland moving from the Southwest Missouri/Northeast Oklahoma region to the DMV. As the first person in this role, I have been working with the Town Manager in the creation of both long-term responsibilities and other miscellaneous projects. These responsibilities and projects include: - Coordinating the online activities of the Town including assisting with the launch of a new Town website alongside the Town Manager, Town Council, and Communications Committee by ensuring all documents were transferred over, all content was up to date, and the organization of the website provided an informative and user-friendly experience. Alongside the website launch created a suite of social media accounts for the Town including on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Nextdoor that went active with the website. Charged with continuing to operate and maintain the website and these social media accounts. - Trained in the Maryland Open Meetings Act via online class created by the Maryland Attorney General's Office and the Institue for Governmental Service and Research of the University of Maryland. Municipal Government Public Service Specialist

Feb 2023 - May 2023
During the final semester of my graduate studies, I undertook a paid internship with the Village of Indian Point, Missouri near Branson, Missouri. In this role I worked directly with the Village Administrator/Planning & Zoning Director and the Office Manager. I was also able to work with the Village Clerk and the Village Treasurer. Some of the things I accomplished included: - Established and maintained the social media presence of the Village through the creation and operation of an official Facebook page and a welcome presentation which included information on the Municipal Center that was continually updated with Village events. - Served as a de facto Village Researcher having conducted legislative research on State issues that could impact the Village, assisted in the drafting of new ordinances, and examined at other communities to see how actions they took could be used to improve the Village such as a possible future implementation of a Local Use Tax. These ordnances included a variety of topics such as sewer hookup charges and reforming the business license system. - Assisted the Village Clerk through such projects as having digitized the Village inventory; helped with IT issues; created a digital rolodex; and oversaw the filing, organization, and archiving of both current and historic documents and maps. I also prepared my role for the future in preparation of my exit in May 2023. Show less
