Bio
Matthew Casartello, MA, LMHC
Laura has been an amazing asset to our team since joining our department in 2012. Even as a volunteer, Ms. Stringer has shown determination, initiative, and enthusiasm with each task she completes. Laura has worked with us as an Exhibitor Assistant, and is required to interface and coordinate with multiple large clients in a fast paced environment over our three day show. With each passing event, Ms. Stringer continues to prove herself to be a talented and passionate volunteer, an excellent communicator, and a true team player. This year, Ms. Stringer took on more of a leadership role in the department as one of our area leads. She oversees a specific section of our exhibition hall and supports the other volunteers assigned to her area. She provides excellent teaching opportunities to her subordinates, as well as feedback to the management team. Ms. Stringer has also been crucial in assisting the management team with projects between each show. Ms. Stringer has shown a true desire to take ownership in her role with us. If we see this level of passion and dedication as a volunteer, I can only imagine the potential she has in her field of expertise. I fully endorse and support Ms. Stringer as a valuable asset to any company.

Laura is an energetic, creative, and brilliant problem solver that is responsible for exhibitor relations, coordination with direct reports and supervisors, and staff preparedness for PAX, a twice-a-year show for which I have the pleasure of being one of her managers. Laura has, from her first show in 2012, displayed an immediate knack for the show, and has earned the praise and respect of exhibitors, convention center staff, attendees, and fellow Enforcers. Her fast-paced problem solving has anticipated and solved countless problems before they even start, and she has been an invaluable asset to PAX. She was recently promoted to Zone Leader, adding personnel manager tasks to her already full plate. She took the additional responsibility in stride, and was soon disseminating instructions, tips, and constructive feedback to her direct reports, all while maintaining the exemplary exhibitor relations we had seen on display previously. I heartily recommend Laura Stringer for any job that requires a fast mind, an impassioned voice, or creative energy directed towards problems, no matter how complex they may be.

PAX is a fan-focused gaming exhibition held in Seattle, Boston, and Melbourne, AUS. As Event Manager, I work with partners at ReedPOP, Penny Arcade’s own design team, and our corps of Enforcers to make all the many parts of each PAX show happen as smoothly as possible, with daily tasks ranging from purchasing expendables and building pallets to writing a meta-plot to our in-show scavenger hunt to designing a video board game that serves as a Q&A panel. As a Penny Arcade staff member, I produce and host video content for the PA Twitch channels through semi-regular streams, a bi-weekly podcast Why You Like This, hosted on the ClubPA Patreon. I’ve also written, edited, and produced pre-recorded content for Penny Arcade and PAX, including stream interstitials for PAX Online and a mock pledge drive to promote our Patreon. Show less
