I was the sole developer tasked with duplicating the functionality of an HP-3000 mainframe database running on COBOL on the back end into a new Microsoft Access database driven by VBA, which is still in production to this day, and then extracting, formatting, and migrating live data. I also wrote detailed technical documentation to accompany the new system for users, administrators, and anyone maintaining the code. The new interface I provided is at once modern and easy-to-use, as well as familiar to users of the legacy system. During this project, I was working remotely with the Teamsters in Anchorage from Kodiak Island, which required clarity in written communication.
