Design Manager

Sep 2019 - Mar 2021
During my time at WeWork, I had the opportunity to work in conjunction with all in-house disciplines and establish collaborative relationships with external consultants. This enabled me to coordinate the full life cycle of a project from conception to completion within eight months. As a Design Manager, I had ten architects and interior designers under my supervision and collectively we were working on up to 40 active projects simultaneously. I encouraged regular and frequent feedback with my team to develop trust and facilitate open communication. My team’s challenge was to improve the efficiency of design and construction across multiple building types through a fundamental understanding of the company’s core values and design principles, refinement of standardised processes, reducing waste, and efficient consultant management. I worked within a team of architectural volunteers on the detailed design and construction of a children’s community centre for a deprived Roma community. This experience taught me about the creative process of designing and making at a 1:1 scale.
