Freelance Graphic Designer

Oct 2013 - Aug 2014
I am currently working as a freelance designer based in the East Anglia region. Having recently ended my employment as a Designer at a design agency located in the centre of Cambridge. In June 2012 I completed a 3-year degree at Coventry University studying Advertising & Media. I am an extremely motivated and determined individual who can work well as an individual or part of a team environment. I am hard working and I can adapt to most situations. Over my 3 years at University took the time to partake in numerous work placements and develop my skills whilst learning and obtaining new ones. Having studied design for 3 years, I have developed a huge passion for print design including packaging, editorial and graphic design. Recently I have also worked on some digital design projects and understand many digital terms such as responsive design, UI and UX processes. Since being employed in the industry my love for design has grown and my passion is evident through my work. I am fully proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Working within a small team allowed me to hone in on my design skills to a much higher level than what they were previously. During my time at Honest I worked on accounts including The Perse School, Bidwells, Greshams, and PINGHE, a Hong Kong based fashion designer. I was able to take on projects myself and work on both design concepts, artworking and website design. Working closely alongside a well-established web designer and developers helped me increase my digital design knowledge and help me establish that this is another route I am able to follow. To enable my digital design skills to increase I was able to work alongside a senior digital designer on the Honest website – www.honestideas.co.uk which helped me get a basic understanding of how different elements can work, responsive design and how to include different features within a design. During my time at Honest, ensuring clients were kept happy at all times was crucial which meant that my eye for design and my precision increased immensely. I had constant praise from both my Art Director and from clients alike stating how clean and accurate my work is and how low my error rate is.

During my time at Bright I was often required to complete both artworking and design tasks. My day-to-day work could include artworking for a major supermarket chain, preparing electronic publications, designing app elements to work on both mobile and tablets, designing email newsletters and also editorial design. I was able to work closely with editors, sub editors and lead designers which enabled me to work well within a team environment. I had to ensure that I kept frequent communication with clients in order to always meet the brief and deliver my work to the highest standard.
