      • Aug 2015 - Nov 2020

Being a brand ambassador for Phonak as well as a freelance writer was very rewarding, I loved it. During my time at Phonak, I wrote blogs about living life with a hearing loss, sharing my experiences and advice. Through the journalistic side, I loved covering the latest news stories, interviewing inspiring deaf people- sharing their stories, as well as touching on topical issues and raising awareness. I loved sharing my experiences on my social media channels. My favourite parts were decorating my hearing aids and sharing photos, as well as inspiring deaf young people that they ‘can do anything they dream of, given the right support’. At the beginning, Phonak reached out to me from my personal blog: www.deafieblogger.com and from there began a great collaborative experience. In May 2016 I was invited to be a guest speaker at a Digital Marketing Summit at Phonak's Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. I have been fortunate to visit their HQ again since. I was so grateful for the opportunity to fly out to Texas, USA to attend an accessible Deaf Music Festival, where I reported live from the festival on Phonak's Social Media channels. Over the course of 5 years, I grew in confidence and became proud of my deaf identity. Through blogging, not only have my English language and journalistic skills developed, I have also learnt so much along the way. This truly has been a role that I will never forget - thank you to Phonak for the opportunity. Examples of my work: www.hearinglikeme.com/author/deafieblogger Show less

During my time at Mosaic, I learnt valuable skills involving different Marketing elements. Overseeing 29 sites, I assisted each site to help fulfil their individual different requirements. Working closely with the Social Media Manager, I monitored all of the Imagine Spa social media accounts, as well as creating content to post, through receiving design requests, creating the graphics and responding to their comments. I helped the Spa Revenue and Marketing Manager with creating and editing the Spa offer newsletters which went out on a monthly basis to all the spa subscribers. Each E-news listed each spa's offers for the month, ensuring we pushed sales through promoting Experience, Treatments and Products. My favourite element of the role was the creative side. I demonstrated my flair for design through producing graphic designs for various sites, from social media graphics and posters, to banners and leaflets. Another element to the role was the seasonal marketing campaigns, such Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and more. I created voucher posters as well as social media content for each individual spa. The seasonal Health Club Campaigns were also crucial for bringing Membership sales into the club, in which I distributed all the marketing materials for those campaigns, through taking orders and corresponding with the printers. I also monitored and updated the websites on a regular basis, including uploading the spa offers, job vacancies or writing blogs. It was an exciting time for my development at Mosaic, and I learnt many transferable skills, which has helped my confidence to bloom. Show less

Archant is the UK's largest independent media group. My role working at Archant was part time, working at events and at football matches. The main responsibility was pushing sales of publications such as Eastern Daily Press and Evening News to the general public, as well as promoting Archant's brand. It involved excellent communication skills, being able to work in a team and working together to achieve sales targets. Archant is the UK's largest independent media group. My role as a Qualified Lifeguard was rewarding. I worked at various schools in Norwich, twice a week in the evenings and once a week in the morning. The responsibilities associated involved; Before the session, surveying the pool and area to assess any risks/health and safety. To check that the pool was empty before entering and leaving. Once I gave the all-clear, I was responsible for supervising swimmers, ensuring they were not out of their own depth, or at in risk. I closely monitored those who were not confident swimmers, also others who had health problems, or those who were more likely to get into difficulty. I supported them with any questions they had. My first aid qualification at the time was crucial, enabling myself to provide first aid where required. Another element, was where I was an in-pool lifeguard. I assisted children who were learning to swim. I acted quickly to those in distress, ensuring those in the pool were safe. This job was quite testing but I was proud of it because it showed my dedication, and how my visual skills have improved. I am now much more aware of my surroundings and know that these skills come to hand in everyday life. Show less

Leeway is a specialist domestic abuse charity who (at the time) supported over 8,000 adults and children who experienced domestic abuse every year throughout Norfolk. I joined as a Marketing Apprentice. My role was crucial to the promotion of the charity, by fundraising and organising events to raise money for their services. Alongside my apprenticeship work, I was designing high quality marketing and promotional material as well as social media marketing. The charity receives lots of requests for donations so I had to ensure we provided them with what the service users need. The role involved good communication skills, negotiating with suppliers and venue owners to put on events, as well as working with colleagues to ensure good communication flow within the organisation and to encourage sharing of ideas. I was studying for a Level 4 Business and Level 3 Marketing Apprenticeship with BPP (Foundation Degree Level) but unfortunately I never achieved it because my employer did not understand and meet my needs that I required to achieve the qualification, therefore I left the organisation to pursue my career elsewhere. My role as a Sales Representative allowed me to effectively run my own Avon business. It involved flexibility from delivering brochures and orders to customers, excellent communication, to building a good bond with customers to maximise sales. I used my expertise and marketing skills to sell specific products and to make customers aware of offers and competitions. I ran a social media page as a way of getting messages to my customers quickly and effectively. If a customer was unsatisfied with a product, I was on the case quickly to identify the problem and to come up with a solution, whether it was offering a replacement or a refund. I managed the finances, for the orders, brochures, income and expenditures. This gave me a valuable insight into business skills which I may use for the future. Show less

      • Sep 2015 - Jan 2016

I volunteered at a local Primary School once a week. My role was assisting the Teacher in classroom situations, working closely with the children to help them reach their targets, by identifying what they needed to improve on, and working on that. I encouraged teamwork within their groups, as well as independence. I also did some small jobs for the teacher, for example photocopying, preparing equipment for the next lesson etc. This was an eye opener and gave me experience in a different sector and also helped prepare me for when working around children in future. In the afternoon, I accompany the teacher and a group of children to their swimming lessons, which I use my swimming experience to help the children build their confidence in the water. Also, I am identifying areas for improvement, and working with them to help them progress. If a child is in distress, I use my lifeguard experience to assist them to an area of safety and to closely monitor them to ensure they aren't putting their lives or others at risk. Show less

I worked as a Sales Assistant at Jarrold which was a local Department store. This followed on from my Internship with them and I was a Christmas Temp in the Greeting Cards and Stationery section. As Christmas was the busiest time of the year, every shift was fast-paced and exciting. My role involved serving customers and pushing sales, restocking the shelves and making sure displays looked appealing for customers. I also worked at the Jarrold customer evenings which were very busy but showed my dedication and ability to cope under pressure. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and it improved my communication and presentation skills and would be valuable in the future. Show less

    • Intern - Sales Assistant, Buying Department
      • Jul 2014 - Aug 2014

I won the incredible opportunity from Nelsonspirit to have a two week Internship as Sales Assistant at Jarrold which is a local Department store. I worked in the Fashion Accessories department where I learnt about how products were sold, mini displays were put together, the latest and future trends. I spent the second week shadowing the Buying Department to learn about how they work with suppliers to buy products for each season in store. Learning about the amount of planning that went into the Christmas season for example. I had to do a mood board, where I had to research for new trends and use photos to demonstrate that trend to the team. I was out and about as a secret buyer at other department stores in the area to see what product houses they had and how Jarrold could keep their sales above their competitors. It was very valuable experience. Show less

    • Layout Designer for 'Young Norfolk Daily Press'
      • Jan 2014 - Jul 2014

This work experience with Archant was probably the start of my career in Marketing. I joined a voluntary team of Young people to form the 'Young Norfolk Daily Press' and I was the layout designer. The end goal after the 6 months was to create and produce two supplements as a team for the 'Young Norfolk Daily Press' which was released before and during Norwich Arts Festival that year. I had the incredible chance to work with the layout designers for the Eastern Daily Press and other publications to learn about how they put a newspaper together and all the key features that make a good newspaper. I then had to demonstrate my skills, combined with the design skills I picked up at school with the magazine, to create a layout of the YNDP supplement. This experience has been invaluable and I'll always credit them for the skills I use in my career today. Show less

I worked as a Match Day steward as my first proper job, starting out to earn some money. Working at Norwich City Football Club on their matchdays was an interesting job with different elements to the role. I had to work within a team to assist supporters to where they needed to go. I was trained in health and safety to keep an eye out for any risks and to report them. Also, general match day duties such as ensuring people had what they needed, clearing the boxes out afterwards and then reporting back to our duty manager. This gave me communication skills which were important and will be for future jobs. Show less
