Whiteside Institute for Clinical Research is a collaboration between The University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus and St. Luke’s Hospital. My role consists of screening patients for clinical trial eligibility, and completing baseline enrollment and subsequent data collection for studies within The National Cancer Institute’s National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN). I manage patient accrual, biological specimen submission, and long-term follow up on each of Whiteside’s NCTN trials. NCTN is composed of several cooperative groups, including SWOG, ECOG-ACRIN, Alliance, and NRG. Through this experience I have interacted with patients, physicians, and research staff to enhance my understanding of oncological care and treatment. By attending a weekly, multidisciplinary Tumor Board meeting where patient cases are presented for review, I have seen the collaboration necessary in providing complex patient care. Show less

Dec 2019 - Present
For the past several years I have done freelance work as an artist. I began selling my work in a fundraising effort for a university organization I was a part of, Global Brigades. Global Brigades is a non-profit organization that focuses on implementing holistic models to help underserved communities reach their health and economic goals. In several months I raised roughly $1,000, which was donated to Global Brigades’ Sustainable Health Fund. For the past several years I have done freelance work as an artist.
