Senior Business Support
-
Apr 2014 - Oct 2014
As a Senior Administrator in the Business Services South (Bristol) team, I supported four Inspection Managers and their teams working in Adult Social Care, Mental Health and Hospitals. While providing high level administrative support to my teams, I also took on tasks that gave me further experience of CQC's new inspection model, including:• Providing business support to a week-long Wave 2 mental health hospital inspection• Transferring Wave 2 inspection reports to the new publishing tool• Providing support to NCSC in collecting PIR information from Wave 2 suppliersUsing my advanced knowledge of Excel, I have updated and improved a number of operational and key directorate spreadsheets to improve their effectiveness by employing the data validation and conditional formatting functions and creating dashboards to provide summaries of the information contained within the spreadsheets. Recognising the importance of Excel knowledge both to my team and the inspection teams, I arranged a number of training sessions, including basic Excel training for some inspectors and an advanced Excel learning set for the Business Services team.

Accounts Administrator
-
Sep 2013 - Apr 2014
I held a temporary position within the Purchase Ledger team of the Accounts Department for this nationwide supplier and manufacturer of steel products. The position was initially for a 4 week period, but was extended to assist with a number of transitional projects that required my expertise. Initially, my main responsibilities involved processing customer invoices and raising payment in line with a schedule, balancing contractual terms with cash flow and the priority given to the supplier by our Procurement Team. While working in the department, I used my advanced Excel knowledge to improve this system used to log queries to ensure a more efficient process. I further used my knowledge of Excel and ability to evaluate and improve processes to take on a number of projects relating to the company's aim of improving its procurement process and decreasing costs. I also took on the additional responsibility of regularly running system reports and producing an analysis of our current cash-flow position.

Shadowing Vice President
-
Feb 2013 - Feb 2013
I shadowed Vice President (Certified Special Needs Advisor and Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist) John Morabito. John explained the different investment options that would be available to clients, and the benefits of each depending on the client's aims and degree of risk aversion. He also gave me a broad outline of the main factors affecting the US economy in the past century, and particularly the current economic position in relation to Government decisions. I attended a client meeting, having prepared for the meeting with John beforehand by looking at the client's different accounts and seeing where changes should be made. I also observed the broad and long-term approach to developing relationships and growing the client base by using personal knowledge and connections coupled with learning about the client's business to first help the customer develop their business and thus their own personal wealth. I was particularly interested to learn about wealth management as this will be something that is relevant to the new ABS models for law firms. There is a strong overlap between the work of solicitors creating and managing trust funds and the work of financial consultants at firms like Merrill Lynch.
