  • Conducted original research under professorial guidance to determine the magnetic field structure of the Milky Way galaxy• Used Interactive Data Language (IDL) programming to analyze OH absorption spectra observed by the Arecibo Telescope and found the radial velocities of these giant molecular clouds through Gaussian fitting• Determined galactocentric and heliocentric distances to giant molecular clouds across the galaxy using radial velocities and performed a literature review to add more distance estimates to our Arecibo data• Created a heliocentric map of known magnetic field strengths at the determined distances in IDL
