As part of my work with the response team I have also built up people skills as I was required to search people whilst making them at ease and comfortable. Working as a steward has helped me develop the skills I needed to become a good team worker as we needed to develop skills such as communication to a high standard. My job is to make sure everyone in the ground has a safe and enjoyable experience and to act in situations where safety might become an issue. This job requires quick thinking and good problem solving skills.

I have many responsibilities which include the safety of spectators, customer service, giving out clear information and conflict resolution. At Burton I work in the corporate boxes so require a different skill set to my other stewarding experience as I am dealing with a different type of customer. I have to make sure that there is no issues with the customers and make sure they all have an enjoyable experience whilst making sure they comply with the ground regulations. I originally started this job as a free work experience opportunity but have since gained employment due to my hard work and enthusiasm whist carrying out the work experience. I gained key skills for the events sector including bar work, waitressing, table dressing, room dressing and chair dressing. I also built on my problem solving skills as I often had to think quickly to make sure the wedding carried on running smoothly with no problems.
