During Ella's junior year, she headed the News Section of UVM's independent student newspaper, the Vermont Cynic. As News Editor, she lead weekly training for staff writers, planned and scheduled all news content, edited stories and put them on the In-Design pages for print and uploaded them to the back end of the publication's website. In the fall of 2021, she briefly served as Cynic Sports Editor simultaneously and helped train a new leader to take over in that role.
