I first met Elizabeth when she signed her daughter up for training with our newly formed soccer club. Through conversations with various members of our board, Elizabeth quickly recognized that we had a vision of where we wanted to take our organization but needed some guidance on how to organize ourselves moving forward. Elizabeth generously offered to lead a strategic planning session for our board to help us more clearly define our vision, mission, values and goals and to create a structured plan going forward. Our strategic planning season with Elizabeth was impressive and truly helped to legitimize us as an organization. Elizabeth had an extremely well-organized plan of exercises and discussions to draw out of us and articulate our vision, mission, values and goals. Throughout the session Elizabeth was energetic, positive and warm, creating an environment in which every participant felt safe to share their thoughts and ideas. Elizabeth was particularly insightful at asking tough questions to help us verbalize our thoughts as well as to ensure that the goals we were creating were in line with our mission and values. I cannot say enough about Elizabeth’s ability to guide a group through the strategic planning process. She truly has a gift. At the beginning of the session we were a group of former soccer players turned soccer coaches turned founding board members who had an idea and were basically throwing things at the wall to see what would stick. Thanks to Elizabeth’s guided efforts and abilities to aid us in verbalizing our thoughts and laying them out into a plan, we left as a well organized club with a clear cut vision, mission, values and goals. Since our session, Elizabeth has continued to go above and beyond to help our club. Elizabeth has held us accountable for the goals we set forth by following up with us at our board meetings and sending out updates. She has also graciously made herself available in numerous situations in a consultative/advisory manner as we continue to move forward with our mission. We can always count on Elizabeth to ground us and keep us true to our missions and values.
