Oceanography Camp for Girls is a 3-week summer camp designed especially for teenaged girls by USF College of Marine Science – Office of Education and Outreach Programs. This camp afforded me the opportunity to reach a younger generation and inspire them to pursue science. Being a part of OCG required rigorous training in social issues associate with middle and high school aged students. During camp, I was able to contribute to the education of young girls using my personal experiences and knowledge in science. I assisted in developing materials for the Fish Ecology Lab as well as lead field trips to help expose the girls to a day in the life of a field scientist. Show less

Design and apply curriculum for non-science major courses, Environmental Science and Marine Biology, to ensure that all students pursing a college education acquire a well-rounded science education. It has been my goal to develop an appreciation and understanding of the environmental issues our world faces within each of my students, in hopes that they leave my class with the desire to inspire change and make a difference. Teaching non-science major students has been a truly rewarding experience and a way to help create environmental stewards in all fields of work. Show less
