The Southwest Boston CDC's Green Team was part of a youth jobs program designed to focus on promoting environmental activism in the neighborhood of Hyde Park. During the summer, this took a direct form, where team members would spend time out on the streets cleaning up the neighborhood, both learning about and removing invasive species from the area. In the spring, the green team focused on a neighborhood outreach program designed to connect members of the community with cleanup areas in their neighborhoods to prevent dumping of trash and facilitate other efforts at cleanup. This called for door-to-door visits to community members as well as arranging a community meeting in the area. Show less
