I run an independent practice which is office based and offer therapy to both individuals and couples. Clients can contact me directly (self-refer), but I also take referrals from health professionals, EAP providers, occupational health and support charities. I also provide Clinical Supervision and personal therapy to other therapists and student counsellors. Within my work as a therapist, I have a keen interest in attachment issues, unresolved loss and bereavement in childhood and how this can impact on us emotionally in adulthood. The position required the provision of comprehensive assessments, followed by counselling for women who had historically or were currently experiencing domestic abuse and 'in crisis'. I delivered both short-term and long-term counselling. The service was also accessed by GP's, psychiatric nurses and other health professionals. This meant that I gained a wealth of experience providing therapy to a wide range of clients presenting with various emotional and psychological issues who were referred to the service.Alongside my role as counsellor, I also provided Clinical Supervision to the IDVA's (Independent Domestic Violence Advocates) who work along-side North Notts Police force. Their role is to support 'at risk' women immediately following a DV incident and through the court process. Supervision of the IDVAs included the provision of emotional support due to the nature of their work, helping them to process vicarious trauma and handling 'in-house' disputes.
