      As Full Professor Dr. Perrill's responsibilities include teaching, service, and research. Perrill's primary research areas include Southern African ceramics and Zimbabwean stone sculpture. Additionally, she is a scholar of the history of ceramics, with a multi-regional scope to her inquires. Her doctoral research focused on the economic and aesthetic transformation of contemporary Zulu ceramics between the 1960s and the 2000s.Simultaneously, Dr. Perrill has maintained an active curatorial profile from her undergraduate years to the present. As part of a 5-year Consulting Curator position with the North Carolina Museum of Art, Perrill was a project manager for the re-installation of the permanent galleries of African art. The NCMA team, including designers, educators, and a range of museum staff, won a 2018 AAM Excellence in Exhibitions Award, the only art museum to win this award in the 2018 cycle. Perrill is committed to the use of focused life-histories as an ethical research model that can incorporate social and economic network analysis in art historical research. In her current scholarship and teaching, Perrill is exploring cross-cultural comparisons between ceramic art markets, connections between media in the South African art world, and historical trends in the norms of artistic professionalization in ceramics.
