• My responsibilities covered all environmental matters that may affect the cruise itinerary throughout the world, this includes making sure the cruise ship is environmentally compliant with MARPOL restrictions and other local environmental regulations/permit requirements. This includes discharging various liquids that are allowed to be discharged at sea, such as treated sewage (black water) & grey water, bilge and ballast water, disposal of solid non hazardous waste and hazardous waste. • Making sure all environmental paperwork, including waste disposal paperwork, oil and water checks, plus company weekly and monthly reports are completed correctly and kept up to date. • All procedures are carried out and logged correctly so ISO 14001 criteria are completed and there are no non-conformances. • Liaise with all departments within the cruise ship to advise them on environmental information, helping them with chemical management systems, giving out appropriate PPE whilst using the chemicals and make sure they are environmentally compliant. • Finally report environmental matters to the Captain.
