Elizabeth is a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-all. When we worked together at Bonfire, employees affectionately referred to her as "our queen" because of her reputation for helping everyone competently and quickly. She is professional, industrious, empathetic, confident, curious, & kind. One of my favorite parts about working with Elizabeth is that she is always the first to take initiative when a problem needs solving. For example, one time a contractor walked into our office when the HVAC was out. Elizabeth promptly stood up from her desk, greeted him, and asked for a quote. He responded with an outrageous figure and Elizabeth calmly said that wouldn't work and began negotiating the number down to something more reasonable. The AC was fixed the next day.

I worked with Elizabeth while I was working as Director of Engineering in Bonfire, where she is managing people, culture, and HR. Bonfire is a fast-growing company with a unique combination of on-site and remote workers scattered around the world. Elizabeth provided clarity and direction in solving any challenge in this environment of mixed cultural backgrounds and jurisdictions. We worked together on several complex projects and she always awed me with her deep understanding of both the big picture and nuances. Elizabeth is smart, confident, kind, and knowledgeable in her work and I learned a lot from her during our time together at Bonfire.

Talent, Culture and Internal Communications Leader

May 2021 - Present
To meet the challenge of developing a unified and engaging brand, voice and employee experience for national boutique law firm with 250+ employees across 16 unique offices, I have leveraged purpose-driven communications across a broad array of media and channels; created meaningful cultural experiences at common employee touch points such as recruiting, orientation and reviews; and designed firmwide culture-changing programs including formal mentoring, and engaging learning events. Building a recruiting action plan around persuasive communication, compelling materials and influential meetings, we’ve been able to successfully attract and hire candidates in a highly competitive market. Designing and launching a streamlined performance review process alleviated pain points for reviewers, elicited clear and actionable feedback for attorneys and staff, and provided insights and analytics for strategic planning. Creating a monthly newsletter connects each of the office teams by sharing important information, personalizing other remote team members and allowing the entire firm to share in wins and celebrations. People & Culture Leader
-
Aug 2017 - May 2021
I was given the extraordinary opportunity to launch, lead and grow the People & Culture department at Bonfire which would become a Top Workplace within my first year in the role. In just three years, we grew the remote global workforce 2.5x as sales increased 4x. We hired more than 100 employees and engaged more than 75 contractors on 5 continents, while reducing FTE turnover by more than 7% to a current rate of less than 10% (beating the tech industry average of 13.2%). We accomplished this by hiring extraordinary people and then advocating for them, listening to them, and believing in them. These things are all accomplished through a commitment to good communication. Driving the People operations to support business development from Start Up to Next Level required continuous innovation, design, implementation and improvement of scalable People processes that supported the entire ‘employee’ life-cycle. These processes coached managers as they evolved into exceptional leaders and created experiences for team members that authentically reflected a commitment to empathy, diversity of thought, and continuous improvement. As a department, we closely collaborated and partnered with 9 unique business units to understand their needs, cultures, and team dynamics. We adapted to the new challenges and opportunities that resulted in a shift from a workforce comprised of 50% globally remote team members to a 100% remote Work From Anywhere workforce. Connection, belonging, transparency, and efficiencies were built by leveraging robust collaboration and communication tools, supporting personal productivity and wellbeing strategies and hosting engaging, fun and dynamic learning and culture-building events and programs. Executive HR Business Partner

Oct 2015 - Jul 2017
Following True Health's purchase of HDL, I directly worked with the incoming Executive Leadership Team to develop internal communications and change management strategies to transition the Dallas headquartered business to a position of trust and confidence among the remaining employees. This involved the development of plans, which frequently changed as they understood the strengths and challenges of the organization and providing progress reports to leaders who were frequently remote. To meet the needs of a new business model, I coordinated new people processes including onboarding and orientation for dozens of specialist positions. Working with internationally renowned legal teams, PR firms and consultants, I led efforts and facilitated the compliant transition of relevant materials from HDL including personnel, legal, financial information. Global Special Initiative - People Manager

1997 - 2003
Working for one of the world's most prestigious management consulting firms, I managed the professional development and People support needs for more than 250 consultants in 31 countries for a Firm-wide global initiative focused on understanding emerging technologies. In order to successfully coordinate the effort, I led weekly virtual meetings with Firm leaders located on five continents to obtain support for new and ongoing projects. Facilitating professional development and collaborative knowledge sharing between consultants and dozens of client service teams required developing new tools and preparing comprehensive, thoughtful summaries and guides. A complex internal time and expense billing process required developing annual and project-based budgets, monitoring financial statements, and researching and resolving variances on a monthly basis. On behalf of the special initiative I attended and coordinated multiple domestic and international conferences and events. Show less
