8th and 7th Grade Social Studies EducationIn my first year of classroom teaching, I was a full time classroom teacher implementing the North Carolina 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies Curriculum and created curriculum for Social Studies electives that allowed students to find real world connections to the standards being taught in their core classes. During this time instruction was both virtual and on campus for core and elective courses. In my second year of classroom teaching, I advised National Junior Honor Society. This organization made space for students to be leaders in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship through service to their school and community.

I completed my field experience of student teaching at Clarke Central High School. I had the opportunity to independently lead two Advanced US History classes, as well as co-teach one Collaborative World History class with my mentor teacher. This experience proved to be very rewarding as I saw growth in my students' understanding of the material. I completed my field experience of student teaching at Clarke Central High School. The Georgia Governor’s Honors Program is the first and longest running State funded residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students in the USA. Having attended the 51st year of GHP as a student in 2014, it was incredibly fulfilling to give back to the program. I was directly responsible for the safety and well-being of 600+ college bound students and had the opportunity to teach several seminars each week, which was fun and challenging. My seminars typically covered topics surrounding History. Summer 2018, 2019.
