  I enjoy residential design for its personable nature, but also have a particular interest in designing hotel environments, which stemmed from residing in them throughout my childhood. For 3 years I worked in a hotel to broaden my thinking past the guest experience to that of a staff member. I did this in order to gain first-hand research in preparation for my self-directed Graduating Honours Project, Commune, which aimed to use spatial design to mitigate abuse against staff in the servicescape. The contrasting experiences I've had of being a guest and a staff member has given me a very unique understanding of the hospitality sector - highlighting how crucial it is to design hospitality environments for guests, but more particularly, the staff, so they are able to work within a functional, positive and safe environment so not to hinder operations.   I worked as a retail assistant for Emma Ross's Gift and Homeware shop as well as a design assistant for Emma's interior practice, Emma Ross Design. My responsibilities included assisting on construction sites, installation days, managing shipments and deliveries to site and in store, sourcing and ordering of hardware, furniture and art, promotional photography for social media account.
