Inclusivity and Diversity Intern
-
Oct 2019 - Mar 2020
The purpose of this role was to engage students of UWS with events at their student union, therefore encouraging them to make new social connections and gain a supportive network. A specific focus was placed on engaging international students who can sometimes find it difficult to integrate with their classmates. As an international student myself, I found this role of great importance and value. During this role we planned events for students, specifically trips across Scotland and events at the Student Union showing Scottish culture (e.g. Ceilidh). We also carried out surveys and discussions with international students in an effort to gain insight into their time at UWS and what they would like to improve. Show less

In this role, my responsibilities included serving customers food and drinks in the busy venues at the SEC. I worked in a crowded environment where problem-solving in stressful situations was on the daily schedule. Of course, with a smile on my face at all times.
