  As part of the clinical faculty located in the Sacramento area, I was contracted to the state in various roles to support the adoption electronic health records and information exchange, with a specific focus on e-prescribing. I served as the Principal Investigator for Partners in E, an innovative train-the-trainer program funded by CalOHII for rapid dissemination of health information technology and IT safety curriculum throughout the pharmacy schools in California. I remain on staff at UCSF in a Without Salary (WOS) faculty position in the Sacramento region.

Activities included interpretation and implementation of the new federal rule, landscape assessments, convening public meetings and strategic planning in the development of a State Medi-Cal Health Information Technology Plan, and the development of an enrollment portal for provider participation.   As the e-prescribing innovator for a multi-specialty group practice in Sacramento, I established a centralized E-Fill Service to support provides in managing their medication renewal requests with the goal of improving efficiencies and quality. The service is relies upon pharmacy technicians authorizing routine medication renewal requests under protocol. In addition, I worked with the EMR Excellence Team and clinical quality improvement programs, such as pay-for-performance, PQRS and Meaningful Use. I continue to serve on Dignity Health's Meaningful Use Task Force.
