    • Target Medicine: Meet the Doctors Event
      • May 2021 - May 2021

As Mentee of the Target Medicine Mentoring Programme I was invited to participate in this wonderful event. This event provided me with a rare opportunity to meet and speak to doctors personally from a wide range of specialties and grades. There were doctors from GP, Anaesthetics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Infectious Disease, Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery and more in attendance. It’s was a fantastic opportunity to interact with doctors, find out about what it’s really like being doctor, what different specialities are like, the diverse roles within medicine and their favourite and least favourite part of the job.

    • LondonMed Summer School
      • Jul 2021 - Jul 2021

Hosted by UCL, the Y12 LondonMed Summer School ran in collaboration with Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL), King’s College London (KCL), and St George’s, University of London (SGUL). The summer school provided me with an insight to studying medicine at four different medical schools across London. I had the opportunity to experience lectures and workshops ranging on topics such as ethics and law to clinical and professional practice. I experienced differing teaching styles and engage with staff, health care workers and students across all four London institutions. I got the opportunity to have a lengthy discussion with a real life HIV patient, learning how their disease affected their personal and work life. Through which, me and my team were able to deliver a Ground Round Presentation at the end of the week, in the style typically used by medical proffesionals. Overall I am very grateful to have had this opportunity, the application was a very competitive process, with over 400 applications for only 70 places.
