My responsibility was to improve sales and help customers to choose the right GIS solutions for their needs. Part of my work was to reclassify and study Finnish groundwaters in south-western Finland. The need to reclassify groundwaters was due to an amendment to the law on organization of water management. I got to develop a process for classifying groundwater areas and studying groundwater-dependent terrestrial and water ecosystems. That was my greatest achievement in this assignment. I was in a key position bringing different operators together so that the project would proceed well. As evidenced by the groundwater classification work, I get along well with different teams. For example, I coordinated over 50 municipal officials to be part of the groundwater classification and research, bringing the most enthusiastic ones together with the companies that conduct groundwater examinations in their area. My good presentation and data management skills were needed in situations where I presented research data to our team of five colleagues and together we studied the data. I participated in a “Nutrient-free -municipality” project using GIS and spatial analyzes to target proper water conservation methods in different agricultural areas. Because I am specialized in geospatial methods and GIS-analyzes, I could see different options on how to approach the layouts in question as other team members were not as familiar with GIS. I was a research assistant on a project called “Monitoring the abundance of seals in Archipelago Sea”. I also conducted different map drawing tasks. Later I made my master’s thesis about a geographical range and site-selection of the Ringed Seals in the Archipelago Sea using GIS. I was given an opportunity to be innovative, so I developed a new approach to study Ringed Seals in the Archipelago Sea. Now the thesis is being used by several seal researchers.
