Marine Resources Specialist II for the Maine/New Hampshire Inshore Trawl Survey. This project assesses bottom dwelling populations and assemblages of groundfish and crustaceans out to the 100-fathom depth profile. Research is conducted between southern New Hampshire and the Canadian border each spring and fall. I process catch samples including enumeration, measuring lengths, weights and sex (maturity data), and anomalies. Responsible for Northern Shrimp biological analysis. Responsible for data entry and quality control of the trawl survey database. Assist in preparing data summaries, graphics, and displays for written and oral reports or presentations. I work with multi species otoliths in the DMR’s Ageing Lab and the ageing workup of multiple species. Assisting with other projects such as Halibut Tagging and Recreational Fisheries.National Sea Grant 2021 American Lobster Initiative Co-PI for awarded grant “Answering an industry question, “Who’s eating juvenile lobsters?”: An evaluation of lobster predation in the Gulf of Maine using stomach content analysis.”

Conduct environmental surveys for wind farm development off the Northeast coastline of the United States. Photo-identification, Passive Acoustic Monitoring, data collection & daily analysis. Responsible for monitoring protected marine species in proximity of vessels and exclusion zones, working with crew to reduce impact and understand regulations, ensure compliance with environmental laws, and training new consultants. Well versed and experienced with MMPS, BOEM, ESA & NEPA and other governmental regulations. Reading and understanding permits, summarizing them and giving environmental presentations. Fill out and report marine mammal incident and stranding reports for NMFS. Daily QA/QC of data files, prepare and submit daily reports to clients and project managers. Manage an offshore team of four to six consultants. Attend and participate in daily head of department meetings and weekly phone calls with clients. Equipment maintenance, data management and scheduling.
