As a technical manager I have the responsibility of leading the development of the new generation thermal storage solution (RockStore) and it’s scale up. Heat is stored up to 300°C from waste heat or cheap electricity and then used to run a combined heat and power cycle for on demand electricity and district heating. A detailed plan and strategy were set, taking the 2nd generation prototype through ideation, design, construction, and operation. Within a tight timeline, a 0.5 MWh heat storage mock-up was successfully built and operated for continuous learnings, data collection, and data analysis. My main responsibilities are to:• Create detailed project plans, define project scopes, settings objectives and milestones, and allocating resources.• Collaborate and manage expectations from project stakeholders such as project partners, vendors, contractors, and other departments, to ensure successful project delivery. • Drive the development and process design of overall systems which involves creating detailed drawings and 3D layouts, modelling and simulation, selecting equipment, determining the system philosophy and controls, preparing hazard and operation assessments, and ensuring that all components work together seamlessly. • Ensure that the project deliverables meet the quality standards and all work is in compliance with relevant directives (i.e. PED, ATEX, CE, etc.)• Analyse data and continuously optimize the technology for potential benefits and new business cases. During my involvement in the SunCharge Thermal Energy Storage project, I worked on developing the overall system connected to a 1 MWh thermal storage which is heated up using electricity and discharged by producing steam. I then took lead of the project to maintain a dynamic collaboration with the project partners and ensure a successful execution.I have acquired relevant experience working on a broad range of tasks while being involved in every detail in the project, such as:• Designing and building an industrial electric heating system to simulate a concentrated solar thermal plant for charging the thermal storage.• Component sizing and custom-made component designs.• Collaborating with the project partners to design a steam generation system in accordance to the pressure equipment directive.• Creating the basic process operation and control philosophy of the system including necessary safety interlocks and alarms.• Managing the implementation and construction of the system.• Ensuring compliance with relevant directives and standards.• Working on the documentation for the Pressure Equipment Directive.• Preparation for the final acceptance test FAT. I became involved in the SunCharge project, with the aim to develop a high-temperature thermal energy storage prototype with a capacity of 1 MWh. This system would store heat from renewable sources to enable on-demand production of electricity and heat. In this role, my primary responsibility was to construct a model to simulate and enhance the performance and efficiency of the thermal energy storage solution during both the charging and discharging phases.

    • Engineer Intern
      • Jun 2018 - Aug 2018

In my role, I focused on validating and optimizing the mechanical design of the solar tracker design, which involved using fundamental principles of mechanical design and conducting static and fatigue simulations on various parts of the system. Additionally, I developed an LCOE comparison calculator for solar energy technologies with varying storage types and capacities, and I also contributed to the design and construction of a solar cooker. The start-up environment in which I worked valued creativity and the ability to take initiative, allowing me to put my theoretical knowledge into practice and pursue a career path focused on developing and innovating sustainable technologies and solutions. Through my experience in the manufacturing and assembly process of machines, I gained a deeper understanding of the challenges involved in producing machine parts. This role taught me the importance of considering the feasibility of the manufacturing process when designing parts for a system or product. In my role within the ADMIR residential project, I was responsible for modeling and analyzing the energy performance of 78 buildings. This experience was particularly valuable as it involved working with BREEAM-UK rating systems for international new construction, which was a new challenge for me. Specifically, I took on the task of independently researching and understanding the requirements for the Energy (ENE01) and Health (HEA03) credits, which allowed me to develop a strong grasp of these important standards.
