  The way odours are detected, processed, and perceived by the olfactory system remains largely unknown, rendering the sense of smell one of the least understood sensory modalities. The objective of my research is to contribute to an understanding of the molecular and neural mechanisms that underlie chemo-sensation, and to gain insight into the structure-function relationships between neural circuits, sensory coding and adaptive behaviours.
