  I had the responsibility of taking on the role as leader of the club.   The Waterfront Banquet and Conference Centre was one of my first employment opportunities when I began as a dishwasher. As I got older, I was able to progress and become a server for many years. As a server to various events such as corporate meetings, weddings, baptisms, graduations, and similar events, I was able to establish the necessary personal skills to effectively work with the public. It was impossible to determine whether or not I would have the luxury of encountering polite guests or the opposite; however, it was always necessary to ensure that both my presentation and service are always at their highest levels. I became aware of how to present myself and the appropriate ways to interact with guests. Moreover, my fellow coworkers ranged in a variety of ethnicities and backgrounds. As such, this work environment was very diverse and taught me the importance of diversity in the workplace. I found myself learning various skills, life lessons, and broadening my worldview because of the unique people I worked with. Show less

  Similar to my job as a server, this work experience helped me develop the necessary personal and communication skills that are needed when working in the public sector. However, as a Greek restaurant, Sotiris had a requirement that some of its servers have a basic understanding of the language. From my background, I was able to use my language skills to communicate to customers on a basic level to help ensure they received the necessary satisfaction. Similar to my job as a server, this work experience helped me develop the necessary personal and communication skills that are needed when working in the public sector. However, as a Greek restaurant, Sotiris had a requirement that some of its servers have a basic understanding of the language.
