In a nutshell: As this is a developing market this involves managing sensory from several angles; Firstly, ensuring quality and consistency of existing products despite the ever changing environment; secondly, new product development and innovation and thirdly, understanding consumer preferences and drivers of liking in developing markets. Key Skills Employing sensory methodologies to complete projects for multinational companies with a variety of aims – Eg; quality assurance, benchmarking, taint identification, new product development, consumer studies, recipe changes, supplier validations, packaging and processing changes, line start-ups. This is across all three Mars Chocolate sites in META. Co-ordination of sensory validations with supply chain for new factory and new line commissioning projects. Expert user of Compusense and Fizz Sensory data capture software. Designing and delivering training programmes for experienced and naive panellists –for both internal expert panels (production and office workers) and external clients of all abilities. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Stats packages such as SPSS , ExcelStat and R to manage and statistically analyse data, produce reports and presentations. Use of sensory and consumer data from own brand and competitor products to predict product gaps and consumer liking. Maintenance of external accreditation (UKAS, LRQA) for sensory methods and experience leading auditors through sensory protocols (methods and record keeping). Maintenance of sensory protocols using Nexus software. Training and line management of Sensory Technicians and Panel Leaders Day-to-day management and running of panels & sensory projects (budget, performance, salaries). Sourcing and building relationships with suppliers for a variety of materials (flavour houses , raw materials, inclusions, prototypes, consumer research). Classifying sensory specifications for suppliers to adhere to. Advising on good sensory practice. Show less
