As research director of EIGSI, I had the opportunity to supervise the work of El Arbi between 20016 and 2020. The thematic in which El Arbi was involved was the development of scientific innovations for the benefit of clean and sustainable mobility as well as solutions for optimizing traffic in the smart city. Initially expert in telecommunication network systems, he had to switch to this new scientific field and he did so by successfully demonstrating his ability to face complex problems and quickly adapt to new situations. During this period, El Arbi has demonstrated an effective leadership capacity by actively collaborating with a large number of laboratories in Morocco. I was really impressed by the motivation and the capacity for work shown by El Arbi during this whole period. With nearly 50 publications (journal articles, book chapters or international conferences), El Arbi has been very productive and innovative and has demonstrated an excellent scientific background. On a personal level, El Arbi is well disciplined, serious, reliable and punctual. He is a diligent, passionate and excellent researcher, with a keen curiosity that makes him involved in the life of EIGSI. His great motivation and enthusiasm in everything he undertakes is an asset that will be useful in all his future functions. He had the opportunity to supervise several PhD students during this period. He was a very effective support for them and helped them boost their work, their results and their scientific output.
