Regional Recruitment &Training Manager
-
Jan 1998 - May 2000
The role of Regional Training Manager was a new appointment in 1998. I established myself on the Kingston Region and forged links with six Regional Stores. During that year the role developed further to include the responsibility of managing a massive new systems rollout necessary to achieve Millennium compliance. I led a team of induction trainers; ensuring high standards of induction training were upheld. In October 1999 I was asked to take on the additional role of regional recruitment manager when a colleague took maternity leave. I adopted this role at the company’s peak time for recruitment - the Xmas season. The job entailed the management of the regional recruitment centre based in Richmond, Surrey and it’s 10 employees, and included advertising the vacancies available as well as the organisation of screening, assessment, referencing and induction training of all permanent and temporary seasonal staff employed during that period (850 interviewed, 450 actually employed). I ensured this was all completed within an Equal opportunities environment. Once the seasonal recruitment had finished I was required to compile and present to the senior management team a report on the successes and failures of that years peak recruitment season. This report lead directly to the removal of the recruitment centre from the Richmond base to the main store in Kingston, thus improving the service offered to both internal and external customers and making the whole operation much more cost effective. I facilitated the move of offices and equipment to the new site and organised the ordering of new equipment to improve customer service. Show less
