Internship in the personalised healthcare team related to the launch of comprehensive gene profiling tests for cancer in Sweden. Project focused on understanding how healthcare professionals view these tests and how they should be marketed. As a result, I was able to pinpoint several key factors that Roche should address when marketing the tests. The goal of the research group is to understand the molecular mechanisms of ageing and thus improve the health of our ageing populations. The group is the leading member of the Academy of Finland’s Centre of Excellence in stem cell metabolism (term 2018-2025). My work focused on the ageing of the intestinal stem cell niche, its signalling and role in tissue regeneration. I worked with cutting edge laboratory techniques such as 3D organoid models, transgenic animal models, Confocal microscopy, FACS, CRISPR-Cas9, qPCR etc. The work was highly independent as I planned, executed and analysed experiments and I learned a lot about the world of high impact science, practical research work and scientific communication. Parts of my work were published 2019 in Nature, one of the world's most prestigious academic journals: "Notum produced by Paneth cells attenuates regeneration of aged intestinal epithelium" DOI: 10.1038/s41586-019-1383-0 Show less

I performed my mandatory conscript service as a combat engineer squad leader. After the initial bootcamp I received 4 months of leadership training and got to apply the theory to practice with my subordinates for 6 months. I learnt how to manage my subordinates in a challenging environment, to train and educate them, to pursue goals with limited resources and to cope with stressful situations.
