Plans professional staff development and other continuing education activities. Communicates with the district communication coordinators, with the school library system council, and with other school or community personnel or agencies. Develops specialized collection of selection and verification tools for use by system members. Serves as advisor to member libraries and districts on program development and improvement and assisting with development and updating of members' plans. Serves as liaison to appropriate State Education Department offices concerning system, and member needs and other matters. Develops cooperative activities with other school library systems, public library systems and the reference and research library resources system. Conducts periodic visits to district members and participants. Plans and conducts procedures for data gathering and reporting. Prepares annually a budget to be submitted to the school library system council and governing board which shall approve and file such budget with the State Education Department. Supervises School Library Services Team and evaluates all staff who report directly to the Supervisor and all certified staff who work on teams for which the Supervisor is responsible. Guides school district decision-makers in efficient use of BOCES/RIC services. Promotes a library services web presence that not only informs, but also assists in service delivery. Analyzes district participation and other revenues as well as expenditures on an ongoing basis to provide rationale for budget recommendations. Serves as a member of the WNYRIC Management Team.
